Janet Dunphy

Janet qualified as a Music Therapist in 2014, graduating from Queen Margaret University, Scotland, with an MSc in Music Therapy (Nordoff Robbins). She then moved to Kent, England, to work as part of a multidisciplinary team in Special Needs Schools for children with Severe to Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, ranging in age from 3 - 18 years. Since moving back to Northern Ireland in 2019, Janet has continued to specialise in working with children, young people and adults with diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Severe, Moderate or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

Janet has also achieved an MA in The Anthropology of Music and BA (Hons) in Social Anthropology and Ethnomusicology from Queen’s University Belfast. She currently teaches both piano and oboe, and has previously played with both the Concert Band for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the South Ulster Sinfonia Orchestra.
