The Northern Ireland Music Therapy Trust were delighted to attend the Brain Injury Unit at Musgrave Park Hospital yesterday to celebrate their 20 year anniversary and Brain Injury Awareness Week!

It was a pleasure to speak with the patients, as well as their friends and families, about the benefits of Music Therapy and the positive clinical impact it can have on recovery and wellbeing.

Our music therapist, Neal, has been delivering music therapy at the Regional Acquired Brain Injury Unit for 7 years, using the neurological benefits of music therapy to enhance patients rehabilitation journeys.

Neal shared,

“Music therapy is often an ice-breaker for patients reluctant to start their therapeutic journey. Music therapy can offer a connection with a client’s identity and life path, which can often feel like a distant or vague memory. Here at RABIU music therapy is personal and centred in that we incorporate the clients’ musical tastes and identity, and tailor therapy to their needs. The music therapy clinical goals and outcomes align, and are met through a multi-disciplinary approach.”
